k u .co. mind our y think re #IFeelBetterWhen Poetry Assessor 86 Emma Gartland Emma Gartland has worked in the field of mental health within Leicestershire Partnership Trust as a registered mental health nurse for over 20 years. In 2013 she joined Leicestershire Recovery College as one of the operational managers. The college offers educational courses and resources to people with lived mental health experience. Emma works alongside students to promote self-management and recovery. Her role also involves the delivery and teaching of courses at the college. The poetry workshops, designed to promote the LPT Yellow Book competition were also facilitated by Emma. The students who attended the workshop discovered how being creative with words can be both cathartic and fun. The benefits of writing poetry on mental health and wellbeing were explored and some of the attendees of the workshop went on to enter pieces of poetry to the competition.
