Did you know that our fight/flight response to stress creates a physiological response in the body? This response involves production of cortisol and adrenalin to help kick start the body. More interesting perhaps is that the exact same stress response kicks in whether it is actually happening or simply imagined. So if everything in our internal and external experience has an effect on us, choose to use it to your benefit and focus on what feels better. Tip: To calm the stress response: • start counting, to activate the logical brain • focus on and immerse yourself in the doing of something • use the tapping techniques on page 30 10
