‘Being a judge on the Rethinkyourmind competition has been very rewarding, but sometimes frustrating. I say that because we judges were not just choosing the best artworks, but the best ‘uplifting’ artworks. There were so many entries into the competition that were brilliant, but sadly didn’t quite fit into the required ‘uplifting’ criteria. Also there were some amazing artworks that if it had been for an actual 3 dimensional exhibition in a gallery, we would have picked them straight away. The art we chose had to look good in the great, but two dimensional ‘Yellow Book’.
‘I can’t wait for the next Rethinkyourmind competition to see what beauties emerge from imaginative hearts, hands and minds.’

‘This year the standard of writing submitted to rethinkyourmind made shortlisting and then picking the final winners extraordinarily difficult. Though all of us agreed on the final cut, many of us also had our own other individual favourites that we weren’t able to put through – I’ll continue to remember some of these pieces and be glad to have read them. The work was by turns innovative and heartfelt, insightful and above all uplifting. Poetry in the UK is alive and well.’
