We are delighted to be co-creating the FIRST EVER Yellow Book to focus solely on Primary Schools. After the success of #TheSchoolYellowBook the project has evolved to create #ThePrimarySchoolYellowBook, funded by Hertfordshire County Council and involving five primary schools in the Sawbridgeworth area.
Fawbert & Barnard Infants’ School, High Wych CE Primary School, Mandeville Primary School, Reedings Junior School, Spellbrook C of E Primary School.
Pupils from all 5 schools, will be equipped with their own copy of this personalised wellbeing resource featuring creative work from each of their schools alongside 30 pages of mindful wellbeing material and signposting to national support. Our Company Director and owner of The Centre of Wellbeing, Claire Evans will also be providing online sessions for staff and parents on the wellbeing tools and practices that feature in the resource.
The Project kickstarts on World Mental Health Day: 10 October 2022 with our Project Manager Pete Hirst & Phil Seaman, from the band ‘refuge’, heading into each school to provide uplifting mental health and wellbeing sessions for the pupils, including singing and musical interaction.
Following these sessions, each school will be inviting their classes to consider the project’s hashtag: #IFeelBetterWhen and then spend time, in class, creating artwork and photography to express this.
Local professionals within the Arts sector will then assess the entries, which will be showcased around the local area. Fifty pieces will then be selected and published in a hard copy of #ThePrimarySchoolYellowBook which will be disseminated to all attending pupils and available for purchase to parents, teachers and the general public. Photos of each class with their artwork will also be published so that every pupil will have their entry featured.
What a fantastic way to celebrate The Yellow Book project’s 10th Birthday!
As part of the project’s 10th Birthday, ‘refuge’ worked with animator Creative Cat FX to produce a lyric video to help inspire creative entries for the primary school project. The poem ‘This World’ by Stephanie Rose was chosen as the first ever winner of The Yellow Book project back in 2012 and her words were developed by ‘refuge’ into song lyrics.
The track will be part of the singing and interaction for the assembly style sessions provided at each primary school.
The song was recorded by Ian Boult at Stuck on A Name Studios in Nottingham and mastered at Arm Your Ears studio by John Meredith. We were delighted that Graham Dale worked with The SuperStrings to record strings on to the song.
Thanks to everyone involved!
We look forward to #CreativelyExpressingWellbeing
