It has been a pleasure to work with Steve Simmonds (Assistant Head of Faculty Performing Arts/Music/Media/IT) Cherish Groom (Lecturer – Music ) and the team at Peterborough College to produce wellbeing resources that are made available for free throughout the college.
Following on from the success of the 1st and 2nd editions, students were tasked with creating songs for the digital wellbeing resource The Peterborough College Audio Yellow Book 3rd edition. Music students created tracks in composition lessons inspired by the national ‘Notes of Thanks’ project and it’s theme of gratitude. Pete Hirst and Phil Seaman from rethinkyourmind and the band ‘refuge’ kicked off the project with an in person wellbeing session performing the ‘Notes of Thanks single’. The single featured a host of music artists including Peterborough College Student Bree Hubbard you can find out more about her involvement here.
Lukas Waters and Chay Cripps tracks were chosen by the college team from all the fantastic compositions. They both headed to Deadline Studios in Leicester to work with professional producer Adam Ellis and record their tracks for the digital wellbeing resource. Both Lukas and Chay recorded on each others tracks and Lecturer Cherish Groom played and recorded drums in the studio.
We are delighted that both tracks also feature on the national version of The Audio Yellow Book!
The fantastic cover to the resource came from visual arts student Jarome Charles. Our thanks to David Smith (Curriculum Lead – Visual Arts)
Congratulations Jarome, Lukas and Chay! Scroll down to hear the tracks

The Peterborough College Audio Yellow Book 3rd Edition features these new songs alongside 7 further tracks created by students in previous years. It also features three further tracks on which students recorded vocals alongside many professional music artists for the national rethinkyourmind projects – #IFeelBetterWhen, #SoundsInspired & #NotesOfThanks
The cover art for the resource was created by visual arts student Jarome Charles.
The Audio Yellow Book is a digital wellbeing resource, providing simple tools, practices, spoken word and music with the aim to help empower people in maintaining their health. The personalised audio resource is made available college wide for a free download. The Yellow Book online flipbook accompanies the resource, this mirrors up to the audio resource and provides extra signposting to many national mental health and wellbeing organisations and charities that can support. It also includes incredible art, photography and poetry from the national #NotesOfThanks project all submitted to uplift and inspire others.
