Grateful to the lollipop lady
Who made sure I was able to learn about road safety
Grateful to the teacher who kept me behind
To brush up on my reading skills
Grateful to the dinner lady
Who provided me a doggy bag of food to take home
Grateful to the friends who knew something was not right
But said nothing
Grateful to all these people who provided me
A safe space, where I learn to thrive
where my body was fed and to friends who supported me
I am who I am
Because of all of you.
