ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist and writer of prose, poetry and song, Mellow Baku performs throughout UK and internationally. Venues include North Sea Jazz Festival Holland, The Knitting factory New York, Chateau De Coppet, Switzerland and Copenhagen. Her spoken word monologue ‘Baku in the Day’ was commissioned and produced by Melanie Abrahams (TILT) in 2010 at Curve Leicester. Her one-woman show of music and poetry, ‘Idealogy’, debuted at Nottingham Playhouse in 2012. She’s since performed spoken word in venues including The Southbank, Rich Mix and Kings Place, London, Sheffield University, and toured for Arts in Gloucester (AIR). Mellow delivers a range of music, poetry and art for wellbeing workshops in the community, education, for the police and on hospital wards. Following successful shows for Spark Arts Festival, Vault Festival London and Serendipity UK, of ‘Paradigm Rhymes’ – cross-arts live storytelling / jazz show for young people, Mellow is currently writing a new show to tour schools and perform at Curve theatre October 2017. |
