Georgina Wakefield


ABOUT THE ARTIST


Georgina Wakefield was born in 1947 and lives in Essex she has suffered from anxiety/depression from the age of 18, she has also cared for her son Christian for the past 28 years, Christian has suffered from Schizophrenia since the age of 16.

Georgina has written 5 published books she is also Co Author to a further 6, four of her books are about the caring role. Georgina and her family have taken part in 10 films including a 50 minute BBC2 documentary entitled “My Family Loving Christian” part of the “My Family” Series.

An accomplished public speaker she has delivered “From A Carers Perspective” to a variety of audiences at various NHS Trusts Universities and The Institute Of Psychiatry for 12 years where her work has awarded her Honorary Lecturer Status. She has also talked at many Mental Health Conferences Nationally.

Georgina says that it’s an honour to judge this poetry competition as it’s very close to her heart.
